Gateway Vista, a dual-licensed senior living campus, recently announced the upcoming groundbreaking of its $14-million phase one expansion project. Opening in 1963, Gateway Vista was Lincoln’s first senior living community. Today, the Gateway Vista campus offers a full continuum of services, including patio homes and suites for older adults with a variety of needs, from independent living and assisted living to skilled nursing care with state-of-the-art rehabilitation.
The expansion project, with a groundbreaking that took place in early September 2012, will allow Gateway to grow from 20 to 80 skilled nursing beds. The existing six-story tower will be renovated to include a state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym, clubhouse/pub, private dining venue, larger central kitchen, and meditation sanctuary. All 54 senior living suites in the existing tower will continue to serve inpdependent, active seniors as well as those in need of assisted living care. The first phase of the expansion project will also include the construction of a four-story skilled nursing tower, with intimate neighborhoods of 20 private rooms on each floor.
The expansion of rehabilitation and long-term care beds also means an expansion of employment opportunities on the campus. Community planners expect the expansion will add approximately 70 new positions, ranging from clinical services and administrative jobs to food service and environmental positions.
